From his Dartmouth base Simon Drew works mainly in pen and ink. Twisting language until it’s facing backwards he comes up with the most amazing combinations of surreal humour. His drawings are also available on a range of other products. Simon cites his main influences as Patrick Caulfield, Francis Bacon, Tin Tin and generous quantities of red Bordeaux wine.

James and Julia Katz met at Brighton Art school and went into business together. Applying James’ very distinctive style of quirky illustration to a range of products. Their colourful and humorous images first appeared on mugs in 1991 and we now have over 40 mugs in the series. As well as the ever popular cats and dogs, there are many others from bugs to dinosaurs and ballet to rugby.

Madeleine Floyd paints and draws from her studio in London. Many of her drawings are sent around the world on greetings cards published by Art Angels. Madeleine’s beautiful drawings can be seen on all kinds of things from grand shop windows to egg boxes and she regularly exhibits and sells her own paintings.

We offer a wide range of heritage mugs. This example is taken from the Bayeux Tapestry. Others are reproduced with kind permission from the British Library two designs from the 14th century Luttrell Psalter and original manuscripts by Mozart and Lewis Carroll. Others are celtic designs by Scottish design business Cornadia (also available in navy blue).

The Edward Lear drawings on which these mugs are based come from a copy of his ‘Nonsense Songs and Stories 1894’ in the Opie Collection of Children’s Literature. This collection was purchased by the Bodleian Library, the main research library of the University of Oxford, in 1998 after a public appeal to raise the £500,000 purchase price.

This range was developed in association with the Glasgow School of Art and features chairs designed by the world renowned architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Two are available on either porcelain or can shaped bone china. All other designs are only available on the 8 oz bone china.
